RECOVER CPR Training

Online Course Overview

Over 300 board-certified veterinary specialists from around the world collaborated to develop the Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) evidence-based CPR guidelines. The leaders of RECOVER have designed this course with the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for first responders to learn core CPR skills needed to increase survival rates of dogs and cats experiencing cardiopulmonary arrest in the field using equipment commonly found in your rigs.

As in people, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can be a lifesaving intervention for dogs and cats experiencing cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA), especially when initiated quickly in cases of trauma, choking, or other acute, reversible causes.

The RECOVER CPR –  First Responders Course is designed for firefighters, law enforcement, military personnel, and emergency responders who may encounter animals in the field – whether working dogs or pets involved in emergency situations. It equips participants with the essential skills needed to recognize cardiopulmonary arrest and initiate high-quality Basic Life Support (BLS) without delay.

This course emphasizes rapid assessment, effective chest compressions, and practical ventilation strategies applicable in real-world, high-pressure environments using your available equipment.

Participants will learn how to quickly identify CPA, initiate CPR with confidence, and provide critical support until veterinary care is available.

This comprehensive and highly engaging course includes videos and quizzes covering the latest in veterinary CPR techniques.

An official certificate of completion is offered through this course, which is endorsed by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and the Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Society.
